It breaks the traditional principle that lithium ions must coexist with cathode materials. By combining AI with organic electrochemistry, a lithium carrier molecule trifluoromethanesulfinic acid lithium (CF₃SO₂Li) has been designed to decouple active carriers from electrode materials.
An "injection replenishment" mode is adopted. Injecting lithium carrier molecules into degraded batteries can accurately replenish the lost lithium ions, featuring simple operation and non-destructive in-situ repair.
This technology increases the cycle life of batteries from the traditional 500–2000 cycles to 12,000–60,000 cycles. The battery can still maintain a near-original health state after tens of thousands of charge-discharge cycles. Meanwhile, it breaks the constraint that battery materials must contain lithium, laying a foundation for the development of green heavy-metal-free batteries.
